Water Based Acrylic Dispersions for Inks & Coatings

Penn Color offers a line of aqueous dispersions to the Ink and Coatings Industries. Our standard line of products are provided at high pigment loading and formulated for broad compatibility suitable for let down into many of the acrylic resins used today and can be purchased in chip or paste. The products provided in paste form can be reduced into alcohols, glycol ethers, ester solvent and straight-chained ketones providing our customers with a relatively low shear means for producing a finished ink or coating.

The products provided in chip form can be dissolved in the same solvents but can also be made water soluble by neutralization with ammonium hydroxide or a tertiary amine and water for further reduction with any of the many commercially available water reducible resins. The universal nature and very high pigment loadings afford a convenient and economical means of adding color to an ink or coating.

The film forming acrylics used to produce this line of products are both heat and light stable. When applied from either waterborne or solvent based thermoplastic ink or coating systems, these products will not typically detract from the water resistance of the dried finish. These products can also undergo crosslinking with methylated melamines or other thermosetting materials.

Our products are used in the Flooring, Wallcovering, Automotive, Printing Ink and Inkjet Ink Industries, as well as a number of Industrial Coatings applications.
