Penn Color, a leading manufacturer of color and additive concentrates, announces the recent ground breaking of their new Midwest plant, a 52,000 sf manufacturing facility located in Milton, Wisconsin. This site will primarily manufacture color concentrates, sold to companies in the plastics industry that manufacture products such as bottles, cups, food containers, composite decking, tool and small appliance housing, toys, and all other plastic products. “Our business in the Midwest continues to grow, and this facility will not only help us service our existing clients, but offer the opportunity to expand our position in the Midwest region of the United States” said Tom Cramer, Midwest Business Manager for Penn Color.
The building will be located on a 15 acre greenfield site, which includes a rail spur. To compliment manufacturing, the new facility will also include a full service color laboratory for the design of new colorant formulas, research and development, technical support, and quality control. The initial operation, tentatively scheduled to open in the 2nd quarter of 2011, will employ 12--15 people, with plans to more than double that number over a four year period. Penn Color’s Industry Manager, Bob Kaminski explained, “After a full year of diligently searching for a Chicagoland site, we felt that Rock County and the city of Milton offered everything that we were looking for. Our business was warmly welcomed to the region, and we look forward to supporting the community and expanding our markets in the Midwest.”
